The People's Action Party says a #HappyBirthdayLKY movement has "taken Singapore by storm" ahead of the former Minister Mentor's 91st birthday.

SINGAPORE: Scores are tweeting and posting birthday messages to Singapore's founding father and former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew ahead of his 91st birthday on Tuesday (Sep 16).

The People's Action Party headquarters set up the happybirthdaylky.org website, showcasing an e-card stream of social media posts with the hashtag #HappyBirthdayLKY. Well-wishers are encouraged to leave messages on the page as well.

A check of the site's e-card stream shows many wishing him a blessed birthday and good health, as well as thanking him for his hard work in making Singapore what it is today. One person even showed off a cross-stitch portrait of Mr Lee.
Mr Lee said in response to well-wishers: “Thank you for your birthday greetings and good wishes. I cannot reply to each greeting individually. I wish you all the very best in return.”
n recent years, Lee has suffered from a variety of health problems including abnormal heart rhythm, peripheral neuropathy and bacterial invasions. At the recent National Day Parade held at the Marina Bay floating platform on August 9, a frail-looking Lee appeared to thunderous applause.

Lee is Singapore’s first Prime Minister, and also its longest-serving Member of Parliament. He is additionally acknowledged to be one of history’s longest-serving Cabinet ministers.
